Jade

A writer develops a special relationship with his readers, especially the regular ones who really get immersed in his topics and what he is trying to say.

The members of this website come from many parts of the world and many different backgrounds. Some gamble online while others frequent brick and mortar casinos.

I read all of the comments they post my articles. Their comments range from critical to humorous. They are incisive. And some startle and amaze me with their insight into what I am trying to get across.

I respond to all the emails that are posted on this site. And while I appreciate all of the people who write, there is one who is just a little more special than the rest.

She calls herself Jade.

Now I don't know where Jade calls home, or what she does for a living, or what she looks like. But over the past year or so I am coming up with an image of how she thinks. What I see moves me greatly.

I write about strategies, people living and dead who have been gamblers, and I write about places I have visited like Costa Rica, St. Kitts, Nevis, Dominica, Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman.

I try to share my experiences, my wins and losses and write about the beauty of the Caribbean islands, the white-sand beaches, the jungles, the green monkeys, and the cruises I have taken.

Jade reads my stories, absorbs them, drinks them in and shares the beauty of my experiences.

You can read some of her comments at the bottom of the stories published by latestpokerbonuses.com and latestcasinobonuses.com. They are insightful and penetrating. Sometimes I find them more interesting the article she is commenting about.

Writing brings out more beauty from a person than he or she would ever share with a friend or relative or a stranger. Some of the most beautiful poetry is often written by people who are serving life terms in prison.

A gambler lives on the edge of adventure. To a gambler, it is the journey that is even more important than the results. Jade and many of my other readers share that journey with me.

Everyone should have a friend like Jade. Sometimes I find myself thinking of how I would react if I would ever be fortunate enough to meet her in person. Would I like her? Would she like me? Would we be able to communicate on the same level that we reach through these pages?

Jade recently made some lovely comments on my article, 'The Beauty of Dominica.' The article told of a cruise two poker-playing friends and I took to the island of Dominica in the Eastern Caribbean and our adventurous trek through a jungle to the island's capital city.

I responded to her email by saying much of my writing was selfish. I was simply enjoying the reliving of my favorite experiences and sharing them with others.

I know I thoroughly enjoy this experience of writing and reliving my experiences of this thing called life. And people like Jade give that experience an extra special glow.

Report shows Boulder Strip best for slot players

In late January, the Nevada Gaming Control Board released its statewide gaming win statistics for last year, which reported a 2.8% increase for the state’s nonrestricted locations, from $11.26 billion in 2016 to $11.57 billion in 2017. “Nonrestricted” properties are defined as any venue that has more than 15 slot machines. So while the report counts the big casinos, it doesn’t figure in the state’s more than 2,000 bars & restaurants, convenience stores and supermarkets that have some slots. The Las Vegas Review-Journal made note of some interesting takeaways from the Gaming Control Board’s year-end gaming win report. Keep in mind that “gaming win” refers to the casino’s take, not the player’s. Statewide, casinos on the Strip had the highest slot win percentage at 8.04%, which means that in 2017, casinos paid players 91.96% of what went in. The Boulder Strip in Southern Nevada, meanwhile, had the lowest win at 5.53%; the best for players. The Nevada Gaming Commission defines the Boulder Strip to include the Boulder Hwy., as well as all of the casinos in the city of Henderson. Downtown Las Vegas had the biggest change in slot win percentage since 2016, where it was up 0.28 points to 7.34% from 7.06%. In Southern Nevada, Laughlin had the highest table game win percentage at 19.41%, while North Las Vegas had the biggest increase in win percentage at 14.97%, up 2.19 points from 12.78%. By slot denomination, penny slots were the biggest revenue generator, for the most part, because the market is full of them. On 54,754 machines, the state’s Gaming Control Board reported win of $3.17 billion. The state’s 70,568 multi-denomination machines won $3.13 billion. At 12.07%, Megabucks machines had the best win percentage on slots. The $25 slots were the best for players, with a win percentage of 4.97%. There are still more blackjack tables on casino floors, with 2,582 statewide than any other table game. Roulette was a distant second at 457 wheels. Blackjack managed $1.21 billion in win, an increase of 5.4% from 2016, with casinos at a 14.8% win percentage. The state’s 382 Baccarat games, which had a 12.7% win percentage, produced $1.15 billion, a 5.6% decline from 2016. It might be worth a trip to the Boulder Strip for slot lovers.

Starting on May 26th to July 8th, players will be able to visit the ARIA and take part in the ARIA Poker Classic, a summer series that enjoys just as much fanfare as the WSOP each and every year. Players can access $400 No Limit Hold’em on most days of the series during the early morning hours while the evening signals the start of $240 No Limit Hold’em action. The first four days of the series will include these two events, with the $400 tournament starting at 11 a.m. and the $240 tournament at 7 p.m. Starting in June, the ARIA Poker Classic will feature three $1,100 No Limit Hold’em events, each lasting for two days.
